Words of wisdom

It all seems
so important,
and in a way it is,
and yet the passing
years will show,
it is ephemeral.
Be in the very
moment, know nothing
ever lasts, and dance
the steps divined by life;
embrace each part of it.
There's nothing
but the moment,
no more than every
Now, and riding
on the back of Joy
will bring you home
in style.

If you could go back in time and impart a bit of wisdom to your sixteen year old self, what would you say?

  1. I wonder if your sixteen year-old self would understand your Buddhish older-self: "There's nothing but the moment"

    1. Actually Sabio my sixteen-year old self would have understood but there was no-one around to remind her. And thanks for the note about Captcha as I did not realise it was operational.

    2. Ahhhh ... I am certain that now your voice is a wonderful helpful to other 16-year-olds!

I was at a reunion this weekend and met some adults who were voices in my life when my parents could not offer those voices. "Voices" are a blessing, eh?

    3. BTW: Here are my words-of-wisdom to my 16yo -- using the metaphor of "Vacation May End that Day" (from We Write Poems prompt too).

  2. Like your opening line. It does all seem so important, especially to a sixteen year old.

  3. Perfect and just along the lines that I went (at 16... and hopefully NOW!) :-)

  4. I did not understand living in the moment, trying to actually survive moments. I think I could have handled things better if I knew to pay attention then to that which I pay attention to now.

    Nicely written.

  5. Lovely. (my 16-self wasn't that far past horse books. "Riding on the back of Joy" would have had a whole different meaning for her.)
