Refracted light reveals itself,
bright and brilliant dance,
upon the mirrored eye and mind;
molecular as chance.
Creation's song and signature,
colour in all forms,
magic touch of sacred brush;
beauty is true-born.

Once again, I had to go on - there is a longer version which is not eligible but I include it here:
Refracted light reveals itself,
in bright and brilliant dance,
upon the mirrored eye and mind;
molecular as chance.
Through vivid, deep imaginings,
in shrill and purpled call,
drowning waves of shimmered blue;
huddled greens do fall.
Scarlet screaming, raging reds,
yellowed wash revealed,
orange laughing at the edge;
pink in pouting seal.
Browns in sullen, surried roll,
grey in distant rise,
white complete and purely born;
black, where all's denied.
Creation's song and signature,
is colour in all forms,
the magic touch of sacred brush;
where beauty is true-born.
Like the alliteration and rhythm. The original is where color breathes. Enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work.
ReplyDeleteThis is exquisite, top to bottom, side to side. It's really nothing like Gerard Manley Hopkins's work, and yet it brings to mind that same exuberance in and reverence for the wonders of creation. Oustanding.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so glad you included your longer version. I really enjoyed it. So nice to read! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove both long and short - 'molecular as chance' is particularly excellent.
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteBoth versions are beautiful and have lines that stood out for me. I really do like the phrase, "bright and brilliant dance,
ReplyDeleteupon the mirrored eye and mind;" It is a beautiful way of addressing what we see and think.
Beautiful. My favorite..."molecular as chance."
ReplyDeletefantastic gift of words, i enjoyed it!
