We love bad news

We love bad news,
we really must,
if what we see and hear
reflects our true desires;
reveals our inner fears.

There are two ways
to 'see' a thing,
or maybe even more,
and yet we lean
toward the bad;
let misery be drawn.
A glass half full,
or glass half gone,
is always on display,
so why believe in loss
when we can opt for gain?
Energy will follow thought,
and we create our world,
through what we think
and we believe,
and what we say unfolds.

  1. Indeed.. partly what I wrote in my poem too... and the sad is always closest to our heart.. that's why proximity and personal always is more important than general and big picture things.

  3. i think at times bad news makes us feel better
    about our own lives and situation---and i agree on us being the creators
    of our world...

  4. It does seem that we oftentimes tend to lean toward the bad news rather than the good. The bad is sensationalized and gets people's attention. I appreciated your very-well-thought-out commentary over at dVerse.

  6. Let misery be drawn - so true , sometimes I feel the same way.

  7. I like the feel of this. The rhyme scheme is so subtle that I didn't notice it at first. A lot of truth in this poem. The last part about our world being shaped by what we think and believe is excellent.
