Shoes of fear

The coat of need is thrown,
along with shawled demand,
and shoes of deepest fear,
can tread their own dark plan.

There is within mere wanting
a complex cavalcade,
of other drives and feelings;
of more than I perceive.

To want is something simple,
desire as brought to birth,
and yet it walks with others
who robe its inner truth.

The coat of need is thrown,
along with shawled demand,
and shoes of deepest fear,
can tread their own dark plan.

  1. interesting piece...a little like a riddle, i like how it wraps around...there is a difference between need and desire, though often that line is blurred...and shoes of fear, i'd rather not try those on...

  2. I read this as who we are and the path we choose is decided by how we peer beneath the robe of desire to discern our needs. This poem was good at asking inner questions.
