The scent of you fell listlessly,
around my mind and sight,
to fill my senses needfully;
to fleck my days with love.
The truth of you held sway,
draped slowly round my world,
held still my aching heart;
brought end to my turmoil.
The load of flimsy hopes,
now lay in lightened heap,
as faith skimmed doubt's
rich cream: revealed my destiny.
fill, scent, sway, held, fell, sight, fleck, still, end, load, skimmed, heap.

Wonderful use of two words I found absolutely impossible to use, Roslyn. Nice poem.

Thanks. There were some tricky ones in this selection. If in doubt reach for metaphor.
DeleteDoubt's rich cream! Good imagery! Well done for getting the words into such a compact verse!
ReplyDeleteNice... I especially like the ending.
ReplyDelete"to fleck my days with love" suggests that there's a paucity of love. Is there?

Good point. But fleck is also decorative - flecked cloth, flecked fabric - flecks appear in great numbers so I don't see it as negative.
DeleteAlmost reminds me of someone waiting for their partner to return from an extended absence. And the anticipation of reunion.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping next weeks list will allow for a more detailed meeting of my characters :)
Nicely wordled.
ReplyDeleteoh, mysterious and sensual, well done.
