Pull yourself together,
they said.
As if I were yarn
unravelled,
falling apart
through time
and wear;
needing no more
than a stitch
and a tug
to make it all
neat and
acceptable.
So I did.
But behind
what they saw,
the loops
were always,
a little looser;
holding their
own truth,
revealing their
own pattern,
for anyone
who cared
to look closely,
and beyond.

Neat and acceptable is so over-rated. I try to keep my loops as loose as possible now. Those who care to look closely and beyond are the people I try to surround myself with now. Sometimes few and far between - however, well worth the effort to find. I so relate to these words.....beautifully written.
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more. I was remembering a time long ago, when I really had unravelled quite a bit and everyone kept saying this. I learned that a 'loose knit' is more flexible, durable and resilient.
