Flowers

Spread of scented petal,
dance of leaf and stem,
song of riot colours;
so do flowers begin.

Elegant in mystery,
deep in hidden soul,
healing in capacity;
floral gifts unroll.

Redolent the perfume,
myriad in smells,
source of pure medicine;
so we can revel.

Stories in the telling,
symbols held aloft,
each unique in planning;
for so little cost.

Grace in the revealing,
pure the sap devised,
delighting all the senses;
love as plant comprised.

  1. The subtle rhyming makes it read so well. Lovely lilt.

  2. Your opening, for me, is a stand-alone gem and the rest shine brilliantly as well. Beautiful work!

  4. You don't often play for my prompts. I'm glad you did. Being the semi-colon queen, I tend to notice and process how they are used, when i see them. Having done that, I noticed the five lines after the semi-colons, work together to sum up the poem.
