Doubt dressed

Doubt dressed my naked helpless mind
in robes of shivered cloth which dragged
with icy purity along the stones  of life.
In trail of darkened hem, it followed close behind,
and threatened with its tangled edge
to trip the feet of time.
The pull of reasoned certainty brought close
the fabric held, in folded deep imagining
the world and all that dwelled, in hidden
lost becomings, which only hope revealed.

  1. I love the metaphor of the trail... when in doubt we lack the cairns, but maybe that is when we find something really new.

  2. One can get lost in that trail of darkened hem ~ The pull of fear is evident, and one can only dream of hope and lost beocmings ~

  4. I liked the sound of the internal rhyme and the lines "and threatened with its tangled edge
to trip the feet of time"

  5. The feeling of doubt and fear is palpable in this and then the turn towards hope gives a lift to light...nice.
