Palestine aches
POEM POSTED IN COMMENTS AS I COULD NOT CHANGE THE SPACING HERE.
PALESTINE ACHES
The dead have silent teeth and empty throats,
They have no voice with which to speak, to cry
of all the horrors they have seen and been and
known; to call for justice, freedom from the
************************
power of those who kill to claim what is not
theirs, the land of others, who suffocate children
in waves of dust and shredded metal moments,
where blood and tears and destiny are driven
*****************************
deep into the waiting earth; dressing broken
fragments of their lives, their souls, their
hearts, that costuming of evil which war does
primp and posture into place, for those who
********************************
are the victims, for those who cannot speak,
and for whom the only hope can be for others,
that their throats are not empty, their teeth
are not silent, their words are not crushed
******************************
beneath the boot of evil and injustice and
military might, and that in the darkened
quietness of this awful, suppurating wound,
their only hope is that the voices of the living
***************************************
will be speaking out for those who lie strewn,
fleshed like scattered crops, in that harvest
which bleeds and grieves and slowly seeds
the fields of future justice in aching Palestine.

How will the 'good' and 'moral' Jewish population deal with what is being done in their name? They have endangered themselves for another 3000 years.
ReplyDeleteThat is the question. Any study of Zionist and Israeli histories make it very clear they contain clear policies of genocide - extermination or expulsion of the native people because they are non-Jews.
DeleteAny study of the history of Israel's foundation makes it very clear the State was founded in terrorism and genocidal ethnic cleansing. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz has published some of this material.
Any study of Israeli and international human rights groups from 1948 reveal that Israel has functioned on terrorism and genocidal ethnic cleansing.
Why have Jews allowed Israel to claim it represents them and their religion and not only ignored their atrocities but continued to fund the State and even to send their children there on camps to be brainwashed to hate and kill Palestinians.
There are Jews from all over the world serving in the Israeli Occupation Forces.
A sad situation for them.
ReplyDelete77 years or 30,000 days of suffering bestial savagery and sadistic cruelty and denied all civil and human rights by their Israeli colonial occupiers is probably more than sad.
DeleteI am not sure why the spacing with the poem has not happened.
ReplyDeleteI wrote this poem in 2023 and here the spacing is correct. Horrific to think we are two years on from this colonial genocidal slaughter.

Thank you for writing this! You speak for all of is who are struck dumb by the horror. I find I cannot link to the correctly spaced version. Maybe you could take a screenshot of it and post here? The words are very effective anyway!
ReplyDeleteI wrote this in November 2023. Here is the page.

These are dark times.... and I wonder if it will ever stop
ReplyDeleteThese are dark times but for the Palestinians they have been dark times for 77 years and the world has ignored it. Indeed, helped it to happen.
DeleteBut cosmically I think we are at a turning point where we are being called to account and to remember that our task on this planet is to work to make the world a better place and not a worse one. We have become captive to materialism and selfishness.
