Black sucks in all things,
refusing to reflect, to
allow the light to bounce
back in a colouring of
being, where all is con
sumed and devoured, in
a great swallowing of
being, whether cosmic
hole, clothes, night or
the caverns of depression
which allow nothing to
be released and all is
held, contained, trapped,
imprisoned in life's
refusal to allow expression...
such is blackness.

" a great swallowing of being" - love that yawning void.
ReplyDeleteFor some, that blackness can be like a blanket, a shelter from the storm, while for others it is the storm.
ReplyDeleteI know of the black that sucks it all — it's evocative how you picture and define it in these words. "a great swallowing of being" is a pertinent way of putting it.
ReplyDeleteBlack can be truly carnivorous
ReplyDeleteI like the description of holding everything and releasing nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe black you describe is suffocating and unforgiving, a blanket of despair.
ReplyDelete"refusal to allow expression" - Wonderful poem!
